When a friend asked for hotel recommendation…I almost forgot!
While on Facebook last night, a friend from school asked for suggestions on where to stay in Chattanooga? I rattled off all of our favorites, Staybridge, Chattanoogan, Read House and others but completely forgot The Delta Queen!
How ironic since I was just on the steamboat earlier in the day with thoughts of, what a great place for Patrice and I to spend a weekend or put up out of town guests that are looking for a memorable Chattanooga experience!.
I remember my fascination at the sight of The Delta Queen when it would dock once or twice a season at Ross’ Landing to take on or discharge passengers on it’s way to or from the Mississippi. I would imagine what is may be like to spend a few days and nights on the water with this National Historic treasure.
The Legendary Delta Queen is now moored in Chattanooga just below the Market Street Bridge at Coolidge Park with a great view of the Walnut Street Bridge. The last fully operational, overnight passenger steamboat in the country, is now a Chattanooga hotel. It is like stepping back in time when you approach this vessel that has carried over half a million passengers and entertained Presidents, foreign dignitaries and a multitude of celebrities.
If you find yourself looking for an evening out, the Delta Queen offers live music, theatrical performances and romantic dining and drinks overlooking the Tennessee River board The Delta Queen.
With so much to offer on the Northshore the location is ideal. Downtown Chattanooga is a short ferry ride or walk across the Walnut Street Bridge where you will find so much to do, museums, events, dining, strolling, music and all that Chattanooga is known for.
Needless to say, I will be writing my friend Terry today and recommend that his family consider accommodations on board, enjoying the rhythm of the Tennessee River on this Scenic City jewel, The Delta Queen. Terry, my friend, to book your stay, click here!
