“We are not trying to entertain the critics. I’ll take my chances with the public.” – Walt Disney
Lake Winnepesaukah, more commonly known as Lake Winnie, is a great, classic park that reminds me of the old Hershey Park back in the 60’s. Lake Winnepesaukah opened in 1925 on the Georgia-Tennessee border just south of Chattanooga. Click here for a map and directions.
Keep in mind that kids under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and their are well published height requirements for most rides. You are able to “rush” through the park in a couple of hours but it is well worth taking your time and enjoying the day with family and friends. Lots of history here!
You have the option of buying individual tickets or purchasing a wristband for the entire day which I recommend if you plan on more than a few rides. The park offers promotions throughout the season, so be sure to check the website before visiting!
The old wooden coaster, Cannonball is a blast that will definitely bring a smile to your face. Fly-O-Plane is a classic ‘old school’ ride, a bit clunky and slow. The Boat Chute (many copies, only one original) finishes in the lake.
Classic rides such as the antique Carousel, the Wave Swinger and the OH-ZONE!, a 14 story free fall will test everyone in the family. Lake Winnie offers rides for all ages from adult to kiddie with enough thrill to please everyone.
“We believed in our idea – a family park where parents and children could have fun- together.” – Walt Disney
