The Sprint Triathlon will commence with the swim which will be 1/4 mile in the lake at the Chickamauga Dam. A pair of athletes will start every 3-5 seconds with their start spot determined by projected swim time. This is called a time trial start.

From the swim at the first transition the athletes will then bike 8.2 miles from the swim area at Chickamauga Dam down Amnicola Highway to downtown, finishing at the Sports Barn.

Here at the second transition area the athletes will dismount their bikes and run across the Walnut Street Bridge to Coolidge Park toward the river and then circle back following the same course for 2 miles finishing at the Sports Barn.

No registrations the day of the race and registration has been limited to the first 500 participants. Race packets may be picked up from 5:00 – 6:30 a.m. at the Chickamauga Dam/swim area… all bodies must be marked by 6:45 am

Spectators can best see the race from the Downtown Sports Barn. If you go to the swim area to watch, know that vehicles will not be allowed to leave from the dam swim area until all bikers are out of the transition area.

As info, the first male finisher will complete the race in 38 minutes and the first female will come in 8-9 minutes later with finishers from early teens to athletes in their 70’s! “If you can’t win, make the fellow ahead of you break the record” – unknown
