Fine Dining

On this sobering day of remembrance, September 11, Patrice and I decided to the short drive up Lookout Mountain. You see, she had seen a picture of Caramel Cake in a local magazine several weeks earlier and was not going to rest until…

Aunt Trudy's Caramel Cake at Cafe on the Corner

Cafe on the Corner is at the point in the “business” quad on Lookout and as we walked up we lamented the rain on the patio. Today we would have to eat inside.

Complimentary pimento cheese served with flatbread

Our bottle of wine was opened and as we waited for an order of the fried green tomatoes we  were served bread and a delicious flat bread with pimento cheese. Nice surprise as we sipped our wine.

Patrice ordered the Strawberry Salmon Salad and I ordered the Cafe Meatloaf which is a mix of beef and lamb, served with collards, mac ‘n cheese and blue cheese slaw. I have to say the flavors on my plate forced me to slow down and enjoy! Patrice’s salad was a healthy portion of field greens with candied pecans, goat cheese and of course a nice cut of salmon.

The dessert menu came and without consideration for anything else we each ordered a piece of the cake. Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a small dish of chocolate sauce we were both ready for the hammock. This cake is killer sweet and a Chattanooga tradition.

Fried Green Tomatoes served with Sweet Pepper Relish

We are already planning a trip back for lunch to try the Grouper sandwich and lighter fare.

Hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday until 10 p.m. They are closed on Sunday. Phone number is (423) 825-5005. Food is wonderful, service top notch and setting is special. Whether you are local or in town visiting, make sure Cafe on the Corner is on your schedule!

The Blue Cheese Slaw was very interesting!

Located at 826 Scenic Highway, Lookout Mountain, directions from town are Broad street south to Tennessee Avenue.  Follow the signs to Lookout Mountain and Rock City.  Take the right turn up the mountain to Lookout.  Stay on Scenic Highway and follow the signs to Lookout Mountain Cafe.

Find your way to the Cafe on the Corner, you will be rewarded!
